Renault Morphoz - Travel in 2025
This is Renault Morphoz (concept car) it’s a shape
shifting car. It’s an all-electronic vehicle which can adjust its
physical size by expanding as the user’s desire. It can be expanded based on
the drive you taking today, it can be city drive for which the shorter version
is quite suitable and for travel it changes to a bigger vehicle by expanding.
This is the expanded form of the car |
With the expansion the car extends up-to
4.80 meters long with a wheelbase length of 2.93 meters. This is powered with
additional Fifty Kilowatt/Hr (50 kWh) which gives total combined 90(kWh) and
extends the range to 435 miles.
When the battery needs to be extended you have to go to their
batter station then the cars under-tray opens and automatically another 50kWh
battery will be installed. The
station would recharge the batteries until they are needed by another vehicle.
In the meantime, it would use the batteries to store electricity from renewable
energy sources or to power bike-sharing stations or street lighting.
The car is well equipped with Artificial Intelligence so it has many sensors and activities which it performs automatically. It uses sensors to detect the driver and opens the door using their facial recognition or the driver can ‘wave’ to activate its welcome sequence and set the interior lights on. The AI uses cars external sensors and cameras to identify the outside activity which helps in removing the conventional door mirrors.
When we come to the interior of the car this wood side
panel acts as a sensor for connecting your phone to the car. The panel stays
flat initially but when you place your smartphone, the flat panel turns into a mold
as you can see in the above image and gives a grip to your device. The
smartphone acts as a key to start your car. The driver gets certain codes which
helps in unlocking and gives access to the car for certain amount of interval.
An oblong steering wheel with an entrenched 10.2 inch
screen displays the safety and driving instructions when auto drive mode is
active. But when manual driving is activated it displays a multimedia screen will
display those information. If AI is linked with the smartphone then it will go
through your personal data and gives you suggestions on your music,
destination, and contacts. It can be controlled through touching the screen,
hand gestures or by their voice.
The interior mats are also quite uniquely made from
one direction it looks yellow and from other direction it looks black, another
amazing part is that its completely made of recycled yogurt cups. Being an
environment friendly car this just recycled cups add up a notch to it. And the seats and belts are also made from fabric
which used very less water in production. Renault chief designer Laurens van
den Acker says he didn’t want the user to just think that this is an
eco-friendly car but feel it by touching and experiencing that through their
fabric as well. When the car is in its expanded stage the front passenger seat “flips”
over, saying it again it doesn’t turn over but “flips’ over so the passenger can interact with people
behind them with ease during long drives. There is a touch screen multimedia
player near the hand rest part, which has games, music player etc. So that
people from behind can only control the media.
